Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Municipal Museum

Amarante
Description
It can be said that around Acácio Lino e António Carneiro, painters from Amarante, constitutes the initial nucleus of the Museum that would progress to the west wing of the 2nd cloister, and there they would be added to the first works by Amadeo, until they were definitively placed on display in the current space of the Museum, now made more valuable with a contribution by the D.ª Lúcia de Souza-Cardoso estate.
Amadeo is the main reference for the Museum, of which he was a patron, and the approximation to his art has become an instrument for modern pedagogy, with plainly visible routes from Cubism to Abstract Art, hints of Futurism, marks of Expressionism and the premonitions of Dadaism and all its absurdity.
