Inserted in the Gourmet Route, the Casa de Vilaverde is located in the Região Demarcada dos Vinhos Verdes (Demarcated Region of Vinho Verde) in the heart of the Sousa Valley and it is one of the most ancient of the region. The Casa de Vilaverde allways belonged to the same family – the Pinto Mesquita`s Family. In spite of existing a medieval tower suggesting the probable date of the XII or XIII century, the Casa de Vilaverde is already mentioned during the reign of King D. Manuel I (1469-1521). The Casa de Vilaverde is classified by the Portuguese State as Imóvel de Interesse Público (Public Interest Property). It has a long tradition with the Vinhos Verdes production, extending by an area of 100 hectares.
