The “Casa do Tempo” was inaugurated on 2nd August 2013, resultant from an intervention to the old “Casas dos Caseiros”, a building included in an ambitious project aimed at urban regeneration in the heart of ‘Cabeceirense’ village, linking the centenary Praça da Republica to new urban areas, creating green spaces, treating the boundaries of the River Penoutas and recovering part of the homes of Quinta do Mosteiro. Its main objective is to allow cabeceirenses and visitors to the municipality to obtain tourist and historical information, as well as learn about the registered local dynamics in the different sectors, as well as the potential that the county holds, namely, the new technologies.
Comprising of the built-up spaces to value and promote our traditions, our purpose, our customs and our people to perpetuate the memory of our ancestors through live recreation of everyday scenes, experience and farm work. It also aims to promote educational activities directed to schools in the county in order to promote interactivity with a view to raising awareness of the youngest in relation to cultural and heritage wealth of Cabeceiras de Basto.
