Chapel of Santa Ana - Vacalar

Armamar
Description
There is a curious legend associated with the cult of Santa Ana: It is said that the July 26, 1727, day of Santa Ana, the village people was amazed to have sprung up water in a very dry place, even in winter, called Passadouro . They also tell that the waters had miraculous powers, because it was sufficient that a paralytic wash himself with this miraculous water to start walking, or a blind to pass water through his eyes to immediately begin to see. That's how the people decided to erect in that place of worship temple to Santa Ana. Both the church and the fountain built beside this temple are due to alms and work of the faithful.

The annual pilgrimage to Santa Ana, which still remains, is held on the last Sunday of July.
