Evidence leads us to believe that the Citânia de S. Julião de Caldelas has been occupied since the end of the Bronze Ages, somewhere between the 11th and 19th centuries B.C., having gone through the period of Romanisation and reached up to medieval times. At this location of considerable dimensions, traces of walls to the North and an Acropolis to the South and West are still visible.
