Ecopista of Tâmega was built in a deactivated railway line, is intended to pedestrian and bicycle circulation. It is a smooth ride and accessible for all, with a little slope.
The railway line of Celorico de Basto is the center space of the Ecopista, located in the center of the town of the county seat. Here you can appreciate and buy some local products at the point of sale, you can also find accommodation in this building or in the hostel, rent bicycles for the journey, to change clothing and to take a bath at the end of the day.
From Celorico to the North, the Ecopista of Celorico de Basto covers an area of 17km, up to Arco de Baúlhe, in which is installed a museum center. The most exciting stretch is the one before the bridge of Ponte de Matamá, in Veade, with an extraordinary view to the Tâmega River.
From Celorico to the South, the route is nearly 22km, up to the station of Amarante. Right at the beginning, you will find the entry to a space where will reign the loneliness of the forest, until you get to Lourido. Will then enter in a zone of shale, the rail runs through a broadened horizons on Tâmega valley, and revealed the character of the mountains.
