The embroidery and weave have also tradition in the municipality of Barcelos, in particular, in the parish of Carreira, known as Bordado de Crivo of S. Miguel da Carreira. This is a former tradition, with specific characteristics which differentiate it from other kinds of embroidery in this region. In Barcelos there are craftsmen that still embroider in a traditional way preserving knowledge and techniques, which for years were the basis of some parishes economies. Besides this kind of work, they also produce other types of articles with high quality, according to the taste of each person, such as Lenços dos Namorados (Portuguese Valentine's handkerchief), rugs and feather pillows (only in Portugal), rugs de metidos e puxados (typical from Portugal), towels, among others.
