Hydroelectric Power Museum of Santa Rita

Fafe
Description
The museum is housed in the Hydroelectric Power Plant of Santa Rita, on 5 October 1914. This plant was a major development at the time and provided public electricity to the town of Fafe. Due to its historical and cultural interest as an important landmark in providing the northwest of the country with electricity, and since the equipment was in a good state of repair, the City Council of Fafe – the owner – decided to transform the facilities and equipment into a regional electricity museum, the first of its kind in Portugal.
