Located in the centre of the town, in the famous Rua Conselheiro Miguel Dantas in front of the public garden, the Municipal Archive of Paredes de Coura is dedicated to the preservation of the municipality’s documentary heritage, information and memories.
The unique building houses past and present documents. The old façade of the Casa do Couçoeiro and the adjacent chapel of the Master of Cana Verde was rebuilt to enhance the built heritage. The oldest documents date back to the 16th century and came from the archives of the Parish Council of Cunha, and from the rich and varied Private Archive of Casa do Outeiro, donated to the municipality by the family of the Viscounts of Peso de Melgaço.
