The core population of the Iberian wolf in Alvão Mountains is one of the most important in Portugal. The Alvão Natural Park was created in 1983. It is a protected area of Portugal which has reduced dimensions, located between the municipalities of Mondim de Basto and Vila Real. This Park hold a vast natural and cultural heritage, which results in the existence of places of interes for those who enjoy the direct contact with nature.
