Permanent exhibition of torture instruments and Medieval Weapons of War
Brief description: Medieval war weapons exhibition and instruments of torture are at different places in Penedono Village, trying to recreate the atmosphere of a medieval town, having as a bulwark the Penedono Castle. In order to draw attention to fantasy, to mythology and to question the story, using all the medieval features of Penedono, this exhibition shows a collection of torture mechanisms that, almost without exception, were probably never used in the Portuguese Middle Ages . This, in addition to their ornamental character properly framed in the space, has the pedagogical purpose of reflection and interpretation of a historical era. Among the large guns, we highlight the siege tower, with its 33 m high and 4 floors, the trebuchet, the ram, the ballista and catapult which is situated right at the foot of the castle, making the delight of the passer-by trying "an assault" to the same. Torture chair and stretch table, are also elements which causes more emotions.
