Between the Cais das Lavandeiras and the bridge that crosses the Rio Ave is the Republic Square, where formerly was the cattle market of Vila do Conde.
Today is a beautiful garden bordered by the river and houses of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Among them there is the Casa dos Vasconcelos or Casa de Submosteiro, that today it only remains the facade, saved and utilized in the construction of the Municipal Auditorium.
This space is the centre of nightlife in the city.
