Description / Facilities

At Quinta de Sanguinhedo, located in the North of Portugal between the cities of Amarante and Felgueiras, stands the Monverde Wine Experience hotel, the first wine hotel of the Vinho Verde Route.

As part of Quinta da Lixa, one of the country's largest Vinho Verde producers, the new hotel can be found in an area of 30 hectares, 22 of which vineyard dominated by the Avesso, Touriga Nacional, Vinhão, Arinto, and Loureiro grape varieties.

The idea of building the hotel stemmed from the need to create synergies with Quinta da Lixa, which was already receiving over 2,600 tourists a year on planned visits, but that did not include accommodation in its Wine Tourism service.

Aware of the importance of Wine Tourism to the wine market, both culturally and in terms of experiences for visitors, the hotel was the tool that was missing in Quinta da Lixa.

Opened in March this year, the Monverde Wine Experience Hotel has 29 rooms and one apartment, spread across the property in three distinct structures.

Wrapped in an environment of earthy colours where the magnitude of wine, land, climate, and tradition are conspicuous in every detail, all around are the objects exclusive to the work in the vineyard, emerging as sculptural elements that design the hotel, some of them lost in time.

The main building holds the social areas: A SPA, indoor and outdoor pool, restaurant, wine bar, or a living area which invokes the pleasure of reading or good times in good company, are just some of the possibilities.
